Sailor gunned down on sentry duty, Navy says.By Taylor Gandossy CNN. -- A sailor found dead earlier this week at California's Camp Pendleton was shot while standing sentry, and a fire was set in an attempt to cover up evidence, the U.S. Navy said. The death of Seaman August Provost of Houston, Texas, is being investigated as a homicide, Capt. Matt Brown told reporters on Thursday. A sailor is in custody in the case, Brown said.Although at least one of Provost's relatives said she believes he was killed because of his sexual orientation and his race, Brown said there was no indication the killing was a hate crime. A U.S. congressman also said on Friday there are indications Provost may have been killed because of his sexual orientation.Provost was killed while he was standing guard as a sentry for the Assault Craft Unit 5 compound at Camp Pendleton, Brown said. He had begun the shift at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, and his body was discovered by his replacement around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday."Preliminarily, it appears that Seaman Provost suffered gunshot wounds and it appears that someone attempted to destroy evidence by lighting a fire at Seaman Provost's assigned place of duty," Brown said.Provost's aunt, Rose Roy, of Beaumont, Texas, said by telephone on Friday that her nephew had told her he was being harassed because of his sexual orientation and because he was African-American. She described him as bisexual."He mentioned it to me and a couple other family members," she said of the harassment, and said he had first told her about it sometime last year."He was frustrated by it," she said. She said she had advised him to speak to someone of higher rank, but said she wasn't sure if he had done so."He went to serve and protect, but he didn't get the protection," she said. Brown said Thursday that he had no information on claims of harassment.Asked whether she believed her nephew was killed because of race and sexual orientation, she said, "In my heart, I do." She added, "it was like an execution-style killing, and nobody does that unless you have that kind of hatred in your heart."The Navy has one sailor in custody who "has been linked to the commission of this crime through both physical evidence and his own statement," Brown said. Watch Brown talk about the killing as a random act »He did not identify the sailor, who has not been charged with wrongdoing. It is unclear if the sailor served with Provost in the same unit.A second sailor whom authorities initially questioned has since been released, Brown said.He said the Navy has no indication that Provost's death is a hate crime, although he emphasized the investigation is ongoing."What I can tell you, unequivocally at this point, based on the preliminary information that we have, is that regardless of the person standing watch in that sentry station, this crime would have most likely been carried out in the same way," he said."In other words, another sailor could have been on that post and would have been the victim of this crime."Rep. Bob Filner, a California Democrat, has called for a full and transparent investigation. Asked Friday if Provost was killed because of his sexual orientation, he said, "There are indications that that's the case. His family says he was harassed."Filner said he was on Camp Pendleton hours after Provost's body was found, although no one told him of the killing."When I was on the base for another event, the commander of the base was sitting next to me and never mentioned a word, which I find very strange," he said.He said he was asking for the "truth of what happened.""We're going to ask, if I may coin a phrase, and we hope that they tell," he said.Roy said her nephew was "a good kid," who didn't have a "bad bone in his body" and had loved the Navy. He joined the service in March 2008, according to Brown."He was a people person," Roy said. "If he could give you the shirt off his back, he would."A funeral has been planned for July 10 in Houston, she said."We loved him dearly," she said.

G-20 pumps $1 trillion into beating recession.LONDON, England . -- Leaders of the world's largest economies agreed on Thursday to a package worth more than $1 trillion to tackle the global economic crisis.U.S. President Barack Obama called the deal "a turning point in our pursuit of global economic recovery." The plan calls for reform of the international banking system and the injection of more than $1 trillion into the world financial system. The Group of 20 is taking "unprecedented steps" to attack the global economic downturn, stimulate growth and expand loans to troubled nations, Obama said at the close of the group's meeting in London."The challenge is clear," the U.S. president said. "The global economy is contracting. Trade is shrinking. Unemployment is rising. The international financial system is nearly frozen." Watch Obama's speech »British Prime Minister Gordon Brown heralded the emergence of a "new world order" Thursday following the release of what he called an "unprecedented" package of measures to tackle the crisis. The deal agreed by the leaders of the world's largest economies included reform of the international banking system and the injection of more than $1 trillion into the world financial system. Watch what was agreed to at the summit »French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who had voiced concerns prior to the summit about the wisdom of pumping further public money into economies already in recession, welcomed Thursday's agreement -- though hinted at unresolved disagreements behind the scenes. There had been concerns that a rift was opening up between the approach being championed by the U.S. and Britain -- more economic stimulus -- and that favored by France and Germany -- more banking regulations.Sarkozy said the agreement represented "great progress" on reform of financial institutions and said "a page had been turned." Merkel described the deal as "a very, very good, almost historic compromise."The six-point plan includes banking reform measures and more than $1 trillion to be spent on restoring credit, growth and jobs, as well as measures clamping down on tax havens and a commitment to build a green and sustainable economy. iReport: What's the economy like where you are?Much of the G-20 communique issued at the end of the London summit restated promises and goals that international leaders had made earlier, relying on language such as "we remain committed" and "we reaffirm our historic commitment."But Brown said: "Our message is clear and certain. We believe that in this new global age our prosperity is indivisible. We believe global problems require global solutions," Brown said."I think a new world order is emerging and with it the foundations of a new and progressive era of international cooperation."Watch Brown's statement »Brown said the new rescue package, which includes a commitment to treble the resources available to the International Monetary Fund to $750 billion, amounted to "the largest macro economic stimulus the world has ever seen."Along with existing national stimulus measures, Brown said efforts to bolster economies amounted to more than $5 trillion. The six-point consensus consisted of measures to:Restore confidence, growth, and jobs;Repair the financial system to restore lending;Strengthen financial regulation to rebuild trust;Fund and reform our international financial institutions to overcome this crisis and prevent future onesPromote global trade and investment and reject protectionism, to underpin prosperity;Build an inclusive, green, and sustainable recovery.Obama said: "We owe it to all of our citizens to act and to act with urgency. We have agreed upon a series of unprecedented steps to restore growth and prevent a crisis like this from happening again.""We have rejected the protectionism that could deepen this crisis. ... This cooperation between the world's leading economies signals our support for open markets," he said. "Second, we are committed to comprehensive reform of a failed regulatory system."Obama added: "We can rebuild our global prosperity if we act with the sense of common purpose, persistence, and optimism that our moment demands."Obama said the United States would also provide $448 million in additional aid to vulnerable nations which he described as "future drivers of world economic growth."Brown said the G-20 would meet again later in the year to review the success of its plans and said details of the summit would be announced over the next few days. Watch global impact of the downturn »"Together with the measures we have each taken nationally, this constitutes a global plan for recovery on an unprecedented scale," the G-20 communique said.As expected, the communique included tough new measures to reform global financial institutions, citing "major failures" in regulation of the sector as "fundamental causes of the crisis."The G-20 members will also establish a new Financial Stability Board to provide "early warning of macroeconomic and financial risks," the summit's final communique said, but it was not clear if board would have regulatory powers.Brown said the final deal included agreement on tighter regulation of hedge funds, tax havens and the banking system."We will implement new rules on pay and bonuses at a global level that reflect actual performance with no more rewards for failure," Brown said. "We want to encourage corporate responsibility in every part of the world."There were only a few protesters outside the summit when it started Thursday -- a marked difference from the thousands who gathered in central London 24 hours earlier. Watch more on the protests »Police said they arrested nearly 90 people on Wednesday and were expecting more problems.

How do I find the "no" last year in the Samara region of 13 thousand children with disabilities more than a thousand have been deprived of their status, which allows parents to receive benefits from the authorities.Representatives of public organizations publicly declare that emerged in the region is a worrying trend: in times of severe crisis officials came in large numbers to save on benefits for children with disabilities. The easiest way to save budget money - simply remove the child disability.Sometimes recognized as healthy babies and adolescents suffering from autism, epilepsy, infantile cerebral paralysis or brain. Many parents are not receiving assistance, hardly ends meet, and considering that the surrender of a disabled child at home. There are also instances of the withdrawal of disability in adults.(.

I met the first Juan Carlos time with a dance on the campus. As usual it was one of those which are tedious dances where they played the music of whack with people of not-dance moving with her the eccentric. I was about to leave when I saw it being held with a group of my white friends of the dormitories. Usually I speak right passer by in the halls to them, but I started to think: you know that perhaps I should really take time to end up knowing it I average they, better.

Workers in Iraq say scores of them removed by force. From Michael Ware CNNBAGHDAD, Iraq . -- Would-be migrant workers, who say they have been stranded in a compound at Baghdad's airport for months, said Iraqi security authorities using tear gas and smoke grenades forcibly removed scores of men from the derelict warehouse Friday.A spokesman for Iraq's Ministry of Interior told CNN that 350 men were removed from the warehouse for deportation, but he said he was unaware of the use of tear gas or smoke grenades. The men told CNN earlier this week they have been sleeping four to a bed at the compound, with poor food and no money, after being duped by unscrupulous recruiting agents into coming to Iraq -- at their own expense -- for nonexistent jobs. The recruiters told the men -- from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Uganda -- that jobs were waiting for them with American defense contractor KBR, through a Kuwaiti company called Najlaa Catering Services. The recruiting agents charged them between $3,000 and $5,000 to make the trip to Iraq; many sold their farms or other valuables to raise the money. The Ministry of Interior spokesman told CNN that Najlaa gave the men one month's salary before their removal. CNN was attempting to reach the company for comment Friday. The men told CNN earlier this week that when they arrived in Baghdad, Najlaa housed around 1,000 of them -- 600 in the one-room warehouse alone -- in the compound within the airport, surrounded by private security guards. Showers there are useless because the taps don't work. Many have questions about their visas and status in Iraq. They're legally unable to stay, but they lack the money to return home.Asked about the situation earlier this week, Najlaa officials in Iraq refused comment to CNN. The company's Kuwaiti office said the situation was "under control" and being dealt with.Private security guards secured the perimeter of the compound. The men said the guards fired into the air to silence them when they protested. They told CNN the governments of their home countries were doing nothing to help them. Some Ugandan men said Iraqi police handcuffed and beat them. "They say, 'If you are here for the U.S., we're going to show you the difference between the U.S. government and the Iraqi government. Let's see if the U.S. is going to help you,' " one man said. Iraqi police would not answer questions about those allegations. As the men spoke to CNN on camera earlier this week, an official in charge of them threatened to lock them out of the compound unless they returned inside within two minutes.KBR was not involved in recruiting the men. The company told CNN it does not condone unethical behavior, insisting its contractors abide by its code of conduct, including training in human trafficking. The company said that when it becomes aware of possible trafficking, it works "to remediate the problem and report the matter to proper authorities. KBR then works with authorities to rectify the matter."Meanwhile, another group of men at a separate, makeshift camp nearby said they were duped by different recruiters. They live off food donated by Iraqi workers and say the people who brought them to Iraq have disappeared. Those men said their immigration status is in limbo. Their passports have been taken, or pages with visas have been torn out.Help may be on the way. The men said United Nations workers had visited them, and the organization told CNN it is aware of the situation and is figuring out how to help the men. The U.S. military told CNN it takes human rights abuses seriously and is looking into the matter. The Iraqi government has also confiscated the passport of a Najlaa official until a solution is found. But for the stranded men, help can't come soon enough."It's not fair," one said.

Brad Pitt works to 'make it right' in New Orleans.. -- Brad Pitt has plenty on his plate. The Oscar-nominated actor and producer stars in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons," which opens nationwide on Christmas Day.Pitt is also the founder of Make It Right Foundation New Orleans Louisiana, an organization dedicated to rebuilding the city following the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.Pitt spoke to CNN's Larry King about his growing family, the crisis in India and revitalization efforts in New Orleans. The following is an edited version of the interview.Larry King: How are the twins doing, by the way?Brad Pitt: Everyone's healthy, so we're all happy.Watch Pitt talk about being a dad »King: All right. Let's talk about a couple of things before we get to what you've done in New Orleans. What are your thoughts on President-elect [Barack] Obama?Pitt: I think, overnight, we redefined what America's about. I couldn't be any happier and more hopeful in the upcoming years. Watch as Pitt shares his views on the election »We were actually in Chicago, [Illinois,] in Grant Park, and I tell you, it was an incredible experience. We ended up walking home from the night, and all the main boulevards were closed, and just the jubilation in the street was something extraordinary to see.King: What do you make of what happened in Mumbai?Pitt: We stayed in the Taj, and we saw the room we stayed in was on fire. Watch Pitt talk about India »You know, I mean, I can't even begin to make any sense of it. But I'm sure they're doing their best to uncover, you know, what was at the base of it.King: That's a very special place, isn't it?Pitt: It's an incredible building. India itself is one of the most amazing countries I've ever been to. Everyone should be so fortunate to get to explore it.It also suffers from inefficiency in a strange way, and a great gulf between the rich and the poor there that needs to be addressed there, but it is certainly a fascinating place.King: How is Make It Right doing?Pitt: The goal is to create a template for intelligent building. The goal is to rebuild all of New Orleans, all the people who want to come back. This holiday, there are families that have already moved in and will be celebrating their Christmases here, so we're very excited.King: You described the storm victims as being caught in limbo. How are they doing now? Is that hope still there?Pitt: Well, the hope is definitely here. And it's more exciting to be here now, because you see things like what's happening in this neighborhood happening, you know, all over the city and even outside the city. So, the money that was promised is starting to flow. There are multiple ground efforts, many different programs, people helping out that are really starting to come to fruition. So, there's a lot of great movement and a lot of great things happening down here. It's really nice to see.King: You've said part of the appeal of New Orleans is that you and your family can have a sense of normalcy, if there is such a thing. How do you define normal?Pitt: Yes. Well, it's a place that we can actually walk on the streets. It's the community here. It's the people here. It's very kind. But they also, for some reason, do not feel like they have ownership in some way or something. They're really respectful.Nothing more than a wave and "Glad you're here," and let us go on our way. We've made some good friends here. It's just a really nice (place). I don't know how to describe it better than that. Just a place for us to be.King: Why do you think that the public is fascinated with the personal lives of people who are well known? You must have thought about that.Pitt: I try -- I've stopped thinking about it, really. I mean, I don't know. There are certainly people I'm interested in. It's quite complimentary. But, you know -- and I think it is an interesting family. It's not your usual family. Watch Pitt talk about why his family draws attention »King: All right. You're on the January issue of -- the cover of "Architectural Digest," talking about Making It Right. You shoot some amazing photos of Angelina [Jolie, Pitt's partner] for "W." Exclusive photos of you and the twins were sold to "People" for charity. You like privacy, but you like exposure. How do you balance the two?Pitt: Well, the pictures for "W," you know, it's a really strange feeling. It's something Angie and I had to talk a lot about, especially with the birth of Shiloh. There's a bounty on our heads, and these pictures are going to come out at some point. They're going to be chasing us, and they're going to go to the ends of the earth to get these photos. Watch Pitt on privacy »We just thought, well, maybe we could -- since there's such a bounty, and that bounty is so obnoxious, we could take that money and funnel it to something good. And that's what we decided to do.It's still a bit uncomfortable to do such a thing, but I know it's right in the end. That was a decision we made.We just didn't want to leave the house, so we just figured we'd do it ourselves, and had a good time doing it.King: Christmas is coming. You said the last time you were with us that you wanted or hoped to build a multiceremonial family with regards to the holidays. Is that working out?Pitt: We're still working on it. You know, we tried a little something last year, but the kids are so young, it just didn't mean much, really. But we're getting there. You know, as they get older, they'll start to understand more. Right now, it's still presents.

Barbara Bush recovering, 'in charge' after surgery.. -- Former first lady Barbara Bush was doing well Wednesday following her surgery late Tuesday night to repair and seal a perforated ulcer, according to the surgeon who performed the operation."She is up in a chair. She's very vigorous. She is in charge," said Dr. Patrick Reardon. "The first thing she did when her lips worked was to tell a joke."Bush, 83, showed up at the emergency room of Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, Tuesday night, complaining of severe abdominal pain, Reardon told reporters."She declared this was the worst pain she ever had, many times worse than childbirth," the doctor said. "This is not something that she had any doubts there was a problem with."After examining her and doing some diagnostic tests, doctors determined Bush had a perforated ulcer in her duodenum, the first portion of the small intestine after the stomach, Reardon said.In the operating room, doctors thoroughly cleaned her abdominal cavity of any contaminants that had leaked through the hole, described by the hospital as being 1 centimeter. Then, doctors repaired the ulcer and used a piece of the omentum, living fat tissue in the abdomen, to sew on top of it to seal it, Reardon said.Bush remained in the hospital's intensive care unit Wednesday, standard procedure following such surgery. She likely will be there at least 24 to 48 hours, he said. She likely will be hospitalized for at least a week, Reardon said, and won't be able to have any food by mouth, as it might stretch the newly repaired ulcer. She also requires intravenous antibiotics to counteract any bacteria released into the abdomen through the hole."She's awake and completely alert," he said. "She's been visiting with the family and looks very good."The condition was caught early, as Bush recognized there was something wrong, Reardon said. He suggested anti-inflammatory medication Bush takes may have caused the ulcer -- a rare but not unheard-of complication."It's uncommon, but it's not so uncommon that we don't know how to treat it," he said. The ulcer was biopsied and is benign, he said. "If there were any concerns, the operation would have been a different operation."Former President George H.W. Bush was with his wife, Reardon said. "They're very affectionate to each other. I hope my marriage is that good, that far into it. He's got a very positive attitude."The mother of President George W. Bush, Barbara Bush was first lady from 1989 to 1993.Born Barbara Pierce in New York in 1925, she married her husband in 1945. She is a distant cousin of Franklin Pierce, who served as president from 1853 to 1857.She and the former president split their time between Houston and Kennebunkport, Maine.

China's growth to slow, World Bank says.BEIJING, China (AP) -- China's growth will slow to 7.5 percent next year -- the lowest rate since 1990 -- as the global financial crisis takes a greater toll on the world's fourth-largest economy, the World Bank said Tuesday. The multilateral lender cut its forecast for 2009 growth from 9.2 percent but said Beijing's multibillion-dollar stimulus plan will help smooth the sharp edges of steep declines in global and domestic demand. It expects 9.4 percent growth this year.China's downturn -- signs of which emerged in the third quarter -- will worsen in the first half of 2009 as exports weaken, World Bank economist Louis Kuijs said as the bank issued a quarterly economic report. The country has been relatively unaffected by the global crisis so far because its banks are healthy and exports are strong but "we will see that impact intensify in 2009," Kuijs said.Conditions should improve later in 2009 but any firm forecast was difficult amid the global turmoil, he said.Beijing's stimulus plan announced Nov. 9 should help to shield China from the global downturn by buoying growth and employment, said the World Bank's China representative, David Dollar. The $586 billion plan calls for injecting money into the economy through spending on construction, tax cuts and aid to the poor and farmers."We are confident that China has the tools to keep its growth rate at a healthy level and most importantly to create about the number of jobs it needs," Dollar said.Beijing announced the stimulus after China's growth slowed to 9 percent in the latest quarter from 11.9 percent last year. The unexpectedly sharp downturn alarmed communist leaders, who worry about job losses -- especially in export industries, which have been hit hard by weak global demand -- and possible unrest. If China's growth next year falls to the World Bank's projected 7.5 percent, it would be the weakest since 1990's 3.8 percent rate and just below the 7.6 percent reported in 1999.The World Bank forecast is in line with projections by investment banks, which have cut their China outlook several times as global conditions worsened.Kuijs said Beijing has room to cut interest rates further and needs to take additional steps to stimulate growth as spending by consumers and companies weakens."We feel that confidence and fundamentals for the private sector have weakened quite a bit over the past half-year. We are less optimistic about private sector consumption than we were a half-year ago," he said.Weaker export prospects and a sharp downturn in real estate sales have made private companies reluctant to expand and hire new workers, Kuijs said.Dollar and Kuijs said Beijing's promise of more spending on social programs and aid to the poor countryside should help to boost growth. The stimulus is meant to boost consumer spending, but analysts say the key to doing that will be to ease the financial worries of Chinese families, which save heavily to pay for health, schooling and retirement."Our view is that additional money put into rural health and education and rural minimum income support program would be effective fiscal stimulus and would help to improve the quality of life in the countryside," Dollar said.He also said Beijing is talking with the World Bank about providing financing for loans to other developing countries.Dollar said the talks were at an early stage and he could not give any other details."The World Bank group is talking to China about ways in which it could contribute some additional financing to the World Bank group that would help developing countries. But that's at an early stage," he said. "It would involve China directly or indirectly lending money to other developing countries."British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and other leaders have appealed to Beijing to use part of its $1.9 trillion in reserves to help expand a loan fund for countries hurt by the financial crisis. China has promised to cooperate with international efforts but has yet to say whether it will offer financial help.

With the noise of the voice it haleté, and withdrew its hand as if the clay penis had bitten it. It whirled in round to see a figure leaning lazy against the reinforcement of the open door. The dreadlocks Shoulder-length framed a face thin with as black eyes and hard as the pieces of coal, high paumettes ahead and of a chin which frayed at a pointed point, covered by a thin line of barb, rather Marleyish itself. The repeated type, I said, the tap -- realistic, isn't this? Its accent was London of the south, with a light Jamaican vibrating sound, his voice grondement deep. Catherine felt her glare of unexplainable face, and it felt confused -- she thought that copper has in bottom have each one in the house under the order. Throwing a glance on the phallus still, trying not to let its eyes rest on top too a long time, she answered her question.
